CAD Design Engineer

The Role:

  • Lead and support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities in accordance with ISO, AS, and company standards and procedures.
  • Manage engineering projects independently, collaborating with the wider team to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Design and develop manufacturing process plans, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Design bespoke jigs, fixtures, and tooling solutions to support manufacturing operations.
  • Produce high-quality 3D models and technical drawings, including GD&T, for internal and external use.
  • Create and optimise offline CNC programs for milling, turning, mill-turn, laser, and WEDM machining centres using Siemens NX CAM.
  • Work closely with production teams to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Apply core quality tools, including APQP, FMEA, and MSA, to support process development and continuous improvement activities.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support problem-solving activities, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and project documentation throughout all stages of development.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong CAD/CAM experience, ideally using Siemens NX.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles.
  • Understanding of project management techniques and tools.
  • Knowledge of aerospace and manufacturing quality standards and methodologies, including APQP, FMEA, and MSA.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites when required.
